10 Tips for Preparing Your Pitch
- Have your business plan, executive summary, and a PowerPoint presentation prepared before approaching investors.
- Your presentation should include no more than 12 slides and should take 20 minutes.
- Practice it with friends and associates until you have it down cold. Incorporate valid feedback.
- Include brief bullet points and graphs in your slides. Too much text can be overwhelming.
- Demonstrate that there is demand for what your business offers.
- Provide a reasonable estimate of the market size and the portion of this your business is likely to capture.
- Describe the competition.
- Explain how the business will make money.
- Include a five-year revenue forecast.
- Relax! Remember investors are people like you and me.
