Trend 3: More role models for women in business and technology

Female technology executives and entrepreneurs, a novelty just a few years ago, are becoming more commonplace. More women are breaking into the top ranks of technology companies and serving as high-profile, influential role models for younger women. Carly Fiorina is one example. Appointed as HP's CEO in 1999, she is the first woman in history to head one of the 30 companies that comprise the Dow Jones Industrial Average. And many trailblazing women in technology are not only serving as role models, but devoting time and energy to actively mentoring and inspiring younger women to pursue career paths as technology professionals and entrepreneurs.
