Who Should Read This Book
Dotcom Divas will appeal most to present and would-be Internet entrepreneurs. The inside look at these 20 companies and their women founders or co-founders provides insight into tactics and strategies that have worked, as well as practical advice and lessons learned. The book will also appeal to technology professionals, business women, investors in Internet companies, business professors, college students brainstorming about their future, and anyone considering embarking on an entrepreneurial path.
The chapters can be read in any order. If you want to learn about a certain type of business, you can read the chapters grouped under your area of interest. The chapters are divided into four categories: portal, content, and community; web-based services; e-commerce; and e-business applications and web technology.
If you're reading this book because you want to start your own web business, be sure to check out the resource section at the end, as well as the book's companion website at www.dotcomdivas.net. They both provide pointers to organizations, capital sources, websites, and other resources for entrepreneurs that will help get you on your way. If you want to tell me about a successful woman-founded web company, a nifty resource for Net entrepreneurs, or a successful strategy you've employed at your own Internet company, email me at elizabeth@dotcomdivas.net.
My ultimate hope is that, in demonstrating the variety and success of women's web ventures, this book will inspire and empower other women to form their own businesses, work for cutting-edge Internet companies, start technology careers, or just think more like entrepreneurs in their chosen fields.
